We have been busy trying to develop some new products, continue working to convince people to stay away from debt, and help those who are deep in debt.
We are proud to announce some new pages on our website.
On our Keeping Pace page we added a Summary page and a Lesson Plan page. The Summary page gives a better description of what we intend to accomplish with that group. The Lesson Plan page allows you to follow along as we develop the curriculm and to purchase lesson plans for your own group.
We had some questions about the Shop Responsibly commitment that businesses can make, so we created a new FAQ page to help alleviate some concerns.
Please check out the pages and give us your feedback on how we can better serve you.

The Directors have chosen a new Bible verse to exemplify our mission. We would like to share this verse with you to encourage you to adopt this verse as your mission verse on your journey to beat debt.
Hebrews 12:1–
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Our core ideas of:
– Fellowship.
– Community.
– Turning from sin of selfishness in our budget.
– Focus on releasing the burdens of debt, and
– Running to beat debt.
are all introduced in the above verse.
“Surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses” — At BeatingDebt.org, we are trying to create a sense of community for families that are committed to beating debt in their own financial race. We are creating a community that is based on respect and encouragement.
“Let us throw off everything that hinders” — Let us commit to beating debt. With this commitment comes a very difficult budgeting decision. The necessity of things like digital cable, lattés at Starbucks, or other small delights must be carefully questioned.
“The Sin that so easily entangles” — Many times, it is our own sin of selfishness that caused our debt to outpace our finances. This same sin of selfishness continues to break our will/commitment to beating debt.
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” — Let us use the community of the internet, prayer, focus, and perseverance to help us run this financial race and beat debt.
How can this verse help you stay focused on your commitment?
What other verses help you stay focused on your goals?

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.” – Romans 13:8
On this Easter Holiday let us remember that the greatest debt paid was by Jesus. With His sacrifice He gave His all to pay our debt of sin. As the song says:
He paid a debt He did not owe;
I owed a debt I could not pay.
I needed someone to wash my sins away;
And now I sing a brand new song, “Amazing Grace,” all day long
Christ Jesus paid the debt that I could never pay.
Let us renew our commitment to beating debt with remembrance to the One who has paid our debt of sin in the past, and now can help us along our journey of getting out of debt.

Step 4: Get the right equipment
To race well, you must have the right racing equipment. It does not have to be much, but it must be comfortable and be able to go the long distances. You can use a variety of tried methods from envelopes to a simple spreadsheet program to an elaborate financial management software. All are available for purchase and recommended by the greats. Like a good pair of running shoes, you must find what works for you. With that equipment, you must be able to use it well to sustain you through the many calculations that must be made along the race to make sure you are on pace with your goal.

“Just as the rich rule over the poor, so the borrower becomes the lender’s servant.” Pvbs 22:7
This verse describes the need for beating debt. As the verse says, when we accept a loan, we are accepting to be someone else’s slave until that debt is repaid. Have you noticed how much we work to pay off what we owe? We will work harder, longer, strain relationships, and give up our happiness and freedom until we have paid the debt off.
We are not taught this Biblical lesson when we are young, especially since credit card and loan companies are advertised in every place we look. However, we must throw off their persuasions, race to beat the debt we have, and get back to a state of freedom where we can enjoy our financial success.
Committing to beating debt will lead to less stress, feelings of fulfillment in work, happiness in relationships, and confidence in life.
We need to beat debt in order to live a more free and happy life.
Have you committed to beating debt?

Step 1: Commit to beating debt
To race well you must first decide what you want to accomplish. Once you decide to BEAT DEBT in this financial race, then you need to write it down, post it everywhere, talk about it with friends and family, and let the goal soak in. This will help your mind believe in the goal, allow your heart to see the great good of the goal, and enable your friends and family to encourage you along the race.
Have you committed to beating debt?
