On Saturday, Feb 7th, a Valentine’s Day Debt Protest was sponsored by BeatingDebt.org. From our account, it was a huge success. In November, at our last Debt Protest, it was only me on the sidewalk protesting and making every effort to educate consumers on the evils of overspending and debt. This time, BDO had another member protesting debt alongside me. This is great news because it was a 100% increase from our last protest, which means success.
This is success because we are reaching out to people and the community is starting to realize the destruction that is caused by overspending and debt. In addition, the latest numbers from the Federal Reserve show that Consumer Credit Debt is going down. This proves that people are not interested in taking on more debt. We are starting to get sick and tired of being in debt all the time. People are starting to realize the beauty and freedom that can be experienced when we purchase things with cash instead of credit. People have realized the short-term pain of making extra payments on their credit cards leads to long-term financial gain and success not experienced through any credit card or loan. We might be a nation of consumers, but we don’t have to be slaves to our consumption as well.
If you are committed to beating debt, I challenge you to align yourselves with our movement by beginning your race to beat debt.
Help us get the word out about the evils of overspending and debt.
Help us be the alternate voice to the marketers that are trying to convince us to buy, buy, buy.
Your support can make a difference in the lives of those struggling with overspending and debt brought on by a world of commercials, envy, and keeping up with the Joneses. Remember, what we have is not as important as what we can offer to others who are in need.
Get rid of your debt and find yourself free.
