I found this movie very inspiring. It inspired us to do a Debt Protest in Jacksonville, NC. It even inspired BDO to alter the 2009 Operational Plan to include many more public displays to help educate consumers on the evils of consumerism and over spending.
What would Jesus Buy is a documentary on Rev. Billy during his crusade to protest the blatant consumerism that affects America and the world. It is a hard look at the choices consumers must make at the point of purchase. The movie balanced the view of the consumer, the worker, the advocates, and the corporations. Purchasing items should be a very difficult decision everyone should make on a regular basis. Ultimately, it comes down to the consumer and their choices. There needs to be more education for consumers on the affects of their decisions to buy indiscriminately.
We must learn to shop responsibly, so we can understand the affects of spending decisions on the short term and long term success of our family. We also need to do so to learn how our we affect America and the world through our purchasing decisions.
We are responsible for our spending decisions. We are the ones who can change how corporate America treats their employees and our world by our responsible shopping. Our money is a vote to their conduct.
The movie shows the tough decision “newly educated” consumers have on purchasing items. Since there is so much made on foreign soil with terrible conditions and so much sold by non-believers that it is very tough to find that one product by the one business that will truly help our society. But…
We must take due diligence to seek those stores and products that seek to build up and not be a continuation of consumerism.
