“We celebrate Thanksgiving for one day, the early pilgrims celebrated it for 3 days, and the original Thanksgiving of the Old Testament, they celebrated it for 7 days. So, isn’t it interesting that we are getting more and more and thanking God less and less.” (From Dr. David Jeremiah Nov 21st podcast)

During this Thanksgiving, let us renew our efforts to see the cup half full.  Deut 16:15 shows us that the “original” Thanksgiving lasted SEVEN days.  However, in today’s wealthy economy, we are only corporately grateful for one day.

An argument can be made that the biggest cause of our debt is our overwhelming ungratefulness.  Since we are ungrateful for all that we have, we constantly seek to get more even at the cost of accumulating more debt.

So, for Thanksgiving, let us take the “consumerism glasses” off and analyze our true situation.  Let us notice all that we really have and be grateful for it.  Our gratefulness to each other and to our God will be the spark to ignite us to work hard this coming year to beat debt.
